Nested circular design for an inspired space
A Toronto artist couple use their cottage home on weekends. The existing pond was lovely, but difficult to enjoy because it lacked a sitting area nearby. Cottage-owners also requested a large social area nearby.
The objective was to create a unique environment that retain the cottagey outdoor setting, with the pond as a focal point, but more accessible. In addition, a gathering area was to be constructed in keeping with the natural feel of the space.
Combining art and nature, a circular deck was created with built in seating and plenty of space for mingling. This theme resonated through the space, with a nested circular fire pit and sitting area, all next to the pond for enjoyment of this spectacular focal point. Armour stone, plantings, and river rock softened the design to better merge with nature.
