Small is beautiful when designed with multiple levels for form and function.
In the small town of Fonthill on the Niagara Escarpment, this newly-renovated home was in need of a design to make the sloping backyard more functional. The space was relatively small and enclosed.
The goal was to utilize the severe sloped surface and create multi use living areas within the small space. Privacy was also on the homeowner’s wish list, due to their proximity to neighbours.
With the collaboration of DNA architects (Gina Schafrick) this small space was designed to maximize functional living spaces. The use of slate slabs and IPE decking created stylish areas for dining, entertaining and barbecuing with simple plantings for pizazz.
