A perfect place for a cup of tea or barbeque
This renovated traditional home had an existing mature maple and locust trees, but no other defined spaces and was in need of functional areas. Homeowners wanted an English country garden to go with the location in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, for relaxing and entertaining.
An existing garden shed was to be the anchor that tied in other aspects of the space – a cozy sitting area for tea, a larger built-in barbecue, and comfortable dining “room”. All areas were to maintain the charming English feel, but be accessible and functional.
An informal design was implemented to soften the space, with gravel as a substrate in some areas, and stonework in others. The English-style garden shed, along with planters, topiaries, raised planting beds, and other flowering plants were perfect accompaniments to the space. A convenient built-in barbecue and dining area made the space functional as well as beautiful.
