This homeowner’s of this recently renovated midtown home were enjoying their new contemporary indoor living environment, but were ready to have their small backyard transformed into an equally functional space.
Optimizing the usability of their backyard while respecting the old town architecture of their home was important to this family. Must-haves for this project included a pool, lounge areas, an outdoor kitchen and overall low maintenance requirements.
The small backyard was divided into multiple tiered ‘rooms’ optimizing all available space for entertaining. The layout includes multiple levels and unique materials to provide definition and privacy. The kitchen and dining area features a wood-burning pizza oven and custom fabricated corten steel screen. Stucco, brick and a classically-designed water feature were incorporated into the design to ensure the modern space complemented the home’s traditional architecture.
